Since creation God strictly puts emphasis on the importance of the sabbath as a day of rest.

Genesis 2: 2-3  tells us that— By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

God put emphasis on several things here. He had finished his work and saw that it was good. He blessed the seventh day and made it holy because on this day he rested.

Today, we live in a fast paced oriented world that at times it\’s hard to make time for rest. Yes, I did say \” make time for\”, (emphasis added). Isn\’t it peculiar how hard-wired we are and high-strung that we have to plan for rest?

God put emphasis on the 7th day, and set it apart for Holy use.
