This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single-word prompt to free-write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This week\’s word prompt is {{REACH}}
Your Dictionary describes Reach like this— To touch or grasp by stretching out or extending. To go as far as; attain. The distance or extent covered in stretching, obtaining, influencing, etc.
That pretty much says it am I right? I\’m 5\’4 in height, so I sometimes have difficulty reaching things. Those who know me well don\’t recommend me standing on something so that I can reach it— Because your friend Miss. Clumsy here is a fall risk.
My best friend, however, is 5\’3 in height, and she has even more trouble reaching things. But we have established that my inch sometimes makes a difference. Sometimes I\’ll ask her, \”do you need my inch\”? And sure enough, most times, it works.

I’m 5’7 and I am often asked for help from other women to reach things on a top shelf in a grocery store. Good reflections of the word “reach”
Thanks, Amy. {{Hugs}}
At 5′ 2″ I definitely have my share of short girl problems. 🙂 My teenage daughter is the same height and frequently complains that she better grow because she can’t possibly spend the rest of her life at this height and teases me for needing stepstools all the time in the kitchen. But at this phase in my life, I’m pretty comfortable with it. (Except when I have to climb up into freezers at the grocery store to reach things.)
Good thoughts on helping each other make the reach! I’m always grateful for the “tall beings” (as I like to call them) in my life that help me reach things
One of my sweet DIL’s is 6 ft. 3 in tall – and she makes me feel like I don’t have to try so hard to reach! She lends me her inches often. I love what you did with your five minutes!
Paula, I used to be 5’6″ but with age and osteoporosis, I am now 5’4″….Crazy, huh? Thanks so much for stopping by and I am gad to hear that you enjoyed my posts!! I hope you have a great week!!
Hugs,
Deb
Love this word. As we reach up and look up, we find God waiting with open arms.
I’m so glad good friends can support one another, Paula, even loaning an inch! Great Andy Stanley quote! ~Lisa IMM#3
