Scripture
“Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt.”
1 Samuel 18:4—NIV
And
1 Samuel 20:42— NIV
\”Jonathan said to David, \”Go in peace, for we have sworn friendship with each other in the name of the Lord, saying, \’The Lord is witness between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants forever.\’\” Then David left, and Jonathan went back to the town.\”
Pray
Dear Father—I confess sometimes, I get so caught up in what I want that I forget Your plans are so much bigger than my own! Help me to be gracious and kind even when others get what I want. Help me to be like Jonathan and not become focused on what I think should have been mine. I pray that I may always seek to love my friends and provide them with what they need to serve you wholeheartedly.
In Jesus\’ Name,
Amen

I just prayed this
What a great series, Paula. I’ll look forward to reading what you share. A few of my friendships have been in flux this past year, so this topic is of special importance to me.
I struggle with those thoughts on a regular basis – thank you so much for that prayer!
I love this. Jonathan was a great example of a godly friend, and I like how you captured that in the prayer.
Thank you for this…especially the prayer. How many times do I forget what God wants and want my way? Too many is the truth.
Indeed, Jonathan was a humble, gracious friend to David–a powerful example for us to follow. With you I want to affirm that God’s plans are much bigger than mine, and rest in his wise ways. Thank you, Paula!
Nothing better than 28 days of praying scripture!
