—Hear the story behind the hit song!

—My Jesus weaves Anne’s personal story with an encouraging message to anyone longing for God to wipe away their tears. Discover the beauty that can emerge from suffering as you read Anne’s story of growing closer to the God who always makes a way.

—In the bluegrass fields of Kentucky, Anne Wilson and her siblings, Jacob and Elizabeth, grew up in the security and love of their family—and Jesus. Then when Jacob died in a car accident, Anne was thrust into a painful journey of grief and soul wrestling that led to God calling her to create songs that glorified Him.

Review

Have you heard the song My Jesus by Anne Wilson? I remember the first time I heard it driving in my car. I was so moved and captivated and said to Jesus, “this is me.”

In her new book, My Jesus, Anne Wilson tells us the story behind the song. Anne is raw and transparent in this tenderhearted book, showing her vulnerability when her brother Jacob dies in an auto accident.

I laughed as Anne tells tales of her, her sister Liz, and brother Jacob’s shenanigans and special times growing up.

I cried and lamented with her and her family when she tells of her brother’s accident and passing away.

I felt encouraged as Anne shared how God can bring purpose out of loss. And that he meets you right where you are, offering hope during heartbreak. Anne reminds us that no matter the circumstance, God never abandons us.

And most importantly— Finding beauty from ashes. I recommend this book as you are sure to find hope and encouragement.

  1. Paula, I love the song but didn't know the story behind the song. Thank you so much for sharing your review. I am always amazed at the way God brings beauty from ashes. The most powerful stories and songs often come from walking through the most painful times with Jesus. Blessings, friend!

  2. Paula, I watched Anne receive several Dove Awards the other night, but I didn't know she had also written a book. She seems to be a lovely young lady and I'm glad you were encouraged by her writing (and singing). 🙂

  3. Paula, it sounds like a powerful book with the potential to touch many lives. Thanks for sharing your review.

  4. Paula, I love this song and Anne Wilson's music. You always wonder just what the inspiration is behind a particular song or why the artist began to write/sing to begin with. Thank you for giving us a peak behind the scenes. Looks like a great read! Thanks for sharing…
    Blessings,

  5. You're welcome, Joanne. You are so right that the most powerful stories and songs often come from walking through the most painful times with Jesus. Sometimes we can see ourselves in others' stories and at other times those stories cause us to pause and reflect.

  6. I believe this is her first book. She really does seem like a lovely young lady, I was very encouraged.

  7. You're so welcome Donna.

  8. You're right Bev. So many times I have wondered what the inspiration is behind songs. And also, how so many of them speak to my soul, and sometimes I say to Jesus "that's me".

  9. Sounds like an interesting book. Thanks so much for linking up at the Unlimited Link Party 87. Shared.

  10. You're most welcome Dee.
